Surf Action - Supporting Combat Veterans

I had never heard of Surf Action until summer 2010, I was invited to
what I thought was surf meet organised by some guys in the Army. When I
arrived I was astounded by the level of organisation, commitment and
generosity of all involved. 

I had recently returned from operations in Afghanistan, although not
injured myself I had always struggled to deal with the guilt of my
soldiers being injured and if there was anything I could have done to
prevent it. Sat around the table in a Jamie's' Bed and Breakfast were a
group of soldiers with a variety of injuries. They were all in different
stages of rehabilitation but all ready for a new challenge. The
following two days exceeded all my expectations the instruction,
patience and devotion of the Surf Action Team and local volunteers was
exceptional. The proof was clear to see; soldiers smiling and laughing
thoroughly enjoying themselves and putting their limitation to one side.
For me it healed me too; for the first time I clearly saw that there is
life after injury. 

Since then I have tried to be involved as much as possible with Surf
Action, I recommend them to all I meet and do my best to advertise their
achievements. Recently I joined them for the Ashley Moffat's Surf
Competition, yet again a superbly organised event raising awareness and
lots of money.

I'd like to thank all at Surf Action for the work they do and all the
volunteers that make it happen too. Most of all I'd like to commend all
members of the Army, Navy, Air force and any service to check Surf
Action out and support them. What they do is truly amazing and I'm
extremely proud to have been involved in a small part of it.
