Surf Action Blog
Last weekend Myself and Rich and our partners travelled to the big city, not Truro, but London to find out if we had won the National Lottery Awards. We were all treated to a beautiful hotel, The Grange Tower Bridge, food and beverages and it was a fantastic experience. There were 800 entries to the awards over seven areas.
With the help of all the support we received Surf Action made it down to the final three in the health division and unfortunately we missed out on the top spot but have been informed we were runners up. Disappointed a little but amazed by the awareness of our project. Everyone we spoke to had nothing but great words to say about Surf Action and the work we do and this made us very proud.
We met some fantastic people and all the projects were so worthy, Sense Scotland who took top spot in the health division were amazing and watching the films on the screen in the studio there were a lot of people holding back the tears, myself included. One of the other projects that I thought was amazing was 'We were Brothers' who won the Heritage award for their play that looks at how the Protestants and Catholics fought alongside each other in WW1. A real eye opener and trying to make real changes.
A great weekend, tiring but well worth it and it has opened up even more doors. Roll on next year. Well done to all the winners and thanks to the National Lottery for everything. Its also great to see that the millions that is not won does go to some amazing projects and we're proud to be one of them. Thanks to everyone who voted.
