This past week Surf Action hosted our first week long residential at the beautiful setting of Prussia Cove on the South Coast of Cornwall. From the 5th-9th December we invited a number of combat veterans from the South West to take part in surfing, coastal walks, fishing, yoga, and relaxation as the main activiites. Alongside this PTSD Aftermath joined us to provide an art workshop and as a result fo this a beautiful canvas has been produced by the guys. This then led on to creative awareness sessions run by Steve Woods, himself a guest, and also a sufferer of PTSD who has found art to have huge benefits. Recently appearing on BBC2 'Art for Heroes' Steve led the group in a session that allowed each individual to express certain feelings through art. 

This was a pilot residential that was so very kindly funded by Peter Stephens from Dial a Fight, part of the Lotus Group. Peter has also bought us a minibus that we picked up with our new logo and branding.

The feedback we have received so far has been excellent.The idea behind these residentials is to move closer to our vision of a permanent recovery centre here in the South West. The week was just the beginning of a number of residentials next year and this will help us develp a model that we know really works. We would like to thank everyone who took part in the week, it is always a humbling experience to be part of this. A special thank you to the hospitality department at Cornwall College Camborne for providing all our beautiful food, many a pound has been added to the waistline!!

Thanks also to those who made it down on Thursday for a special dinner. It was fantastic to meet so many people wo are so behind Surf Action. A big thanks to Freddy for spending so much time in the kitchen, Chris Hines for all his support, Steve for being the hilarious entertaiment and Nigel for taking the groups out on the walks, Nat for the yoga and John Bruce for his kind words of support for everyone.

Most of all thanks to the guys who trusted us and agreed to be part of this fantastic week and I assure you this is the just the beginning and if your in any doubt at all at any time remember your pebble!!! That includes you Rich!!!
