Coming shortly will be a membership scheme for veterans and serving military personnel. By joining Surf Action through the 'Join the Club' page we shall be able to offer a loyalty card which in turn will enable members to access some great discount at many business. Those already signed up to the scheme are Seabase in Newquay who are offering 20% off any custom surfboards, intermediate surfboard (Chinese), or learner surfboard (Softboard / Seasoft brand), and any surfboard accessory. Surf Action are looking for companies who would like to sponsor a veterans. This sponsorship will aid the training and development costs of the veterans we are working with. It is essential that our veterans move forward with their lives and finding work can be a huge step in rebuilding lives. I missed the programme myself but this morning on BBC1 Surf Action appeared on Saints and Scroungers. Those of you who kindly donated after seeing this thank you so much. We also had offers of help and fund raising so thank you all. This year is looking like it will be a huge year for us. Our Friday clinics continue to run and always will. Combining a beach walk with a beach clean was the order of the day this past Friday. The group is now meeting at 11.30 at Sunset Surf Cafe at Gwithian Towans near Hayle just a little earlier than usual. We decided to give the beach a good clean after the last big swells we have had down here that has kept the group out of the water for a few weeks. This past week Surf Action hosted our first week long residential at the beautiful setting of Prussia Cove on the South Coast of Cornwall. From the 5th-9th December we invited a number of combat veterans from the South West to take part in surfing, coastal walks, fishing, yoga, and relaxation as the main activiites.

Last weekend Myself and Rich and our partners travelled to the big city, not Truro, but London to find out if we had won the National Lottery Awards. We were all treated to a beautiful hotel, The Grange Tower Bridge, food and beverages and it was a fantastic experience. There were 800 entries to the awards over seven areas.

Hi All,  A couple of things, we have decided due to the evenings drawing in that we shall move the meeting to 11.30am at Sunset Surf. I hope this is OK with everyone. Hi All, sorry for the lack of blogs this past month it has been a hectic one. Firstly the meeting today is as usual at Gwithian beach 12.30 Sunset Surf Cafe.  I will do a full run down of the months activities here for you later today and there will be some new galleries going up soon. Last week was again humbling and inspiring for all of us at Surf Action.

The Not Forgotten Association has been taking injured servicemen and women on adventure trips and holidays for 91 years. This past week eight injured soldiers were brought to Cornwall by the charity to try their hand at surfing with local charity Surf Action.

Soldiers injured in a variety conflicts surfed for the first time. Among others, Royal Irish Rangers Pat Glennon and Simon Ugavule both suffered shrapnel wounds in the same blast in Afghanistan this year and had been invited to Cornwall by Events Director Rosie Thompson who is responsible for providing cheer and entertainment for injured soldiers and has been in this role for 14 years is an absolute legend and helps those who often need this type of activity to rebuild confidence and esteem.

After a great day at Sennen today it really showed how the Lottery funds are being used. We had a blast in the perfect little waves at Sennen, the waves were perfect for learning and we had some special guests from RAF Boston and RAF St Mawgan and these were welcomed by our usual suspects from our weekly clinics. Tomorrow the Surf Action team will be at Watergate Bay to support Corporal Jamie Hagan and his team in the final Beach Fit Activity session. Whilst the public will be taking part in the military style circuit training Surf action will be taking RAF personnel and their families surfing in partnership with RAF St Mawgans Community Support Officer Simon Keeble. This Saturday Surf Action held our first major event. Staying close to our passion of Surfing we held a Surf Fayre at Sennen community hall. Local board companies like Slide 65, Otter, Seed, Glass Tiger, the Balsa Surfers, Traditional Surfing, paipo glide and the lovely Sally Parkin from Original Surfboards.
